Studies on the Student PIRGs' New Voters Project
2004 New Voters Project: Polimetrix conducted an analysis of the Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project in six states (Colorado, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Mexico, Nevada and Oregon) and found the project had a considerable impact on voter turnout.
2005 New Voters Project: A CIRCLE/New Voters Project analysis of voter turnout in student-dense precincts in New Jersey and Virginia targeted by the Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project found turnout increases between 15 and 19% over 2001.
2006 New Voters Project: A CIRCLE/New Voters Project analysis of voter turnout in 36
student-dense precincts in Ohio, Connecticut, Iowa, Colorado and
Michigan found average turnout increased 157% over 2002, 4 times that
of young adults overall.
